Plastic ExtrusionIn Plastic Extrusion, raw thermoplastic resin is fed from a hopper into the barrel of the extruder to produce various shapes and sizes from a variety of different materials. For more than sixty years, New England Plastics Corp. has led the way in Plastic Extrusion. In house compounding capabilities are available, and additives for a variety of properties such as color, UV protection, and fire retardant properties are often used and can be mixed into the resin prior to arriving at the hopper. We can take your design and help you with our state-of-the-art machines and expert staff when it comes to Plastic Extrusion. The proper machinery, equipment, and personnel are necessary when performing Plastic Extrusion. The Plastic Extrusion material enters through an opening near the rear of the barrel and comes into contact with a rotating screw that forces the resin forward into the barrel which is heated to melt the resin into molten plastic. Extra heat is contributed by the intense pressure and friction taking place inside the barrel. In the Plastic Extrusion process, the molten material exits the die in the design shape, and is then cooled by various techniques. In line and/or secondary operations can be performed to meet final specifications. The resin can also be formed into a tube (such as spoolable custom plastic tubing) through Extruded Thermoplastic Tubing. New England Plastics can also help you with your Plastic Coextrusion, plastic molding and design, and custom profile extrusions needs. Contact us to find out more. |
